Are there people earning passive income from coloring books?

I learned about a way to earn money without actively working a while ago. I’ve had two coloring books for sale on Amazon for a few years now. One of them rarely sells, and the other doesn’t sell at all.

I thought maybe the reason for this is that I don’t have enough books available. So, I decided to publish six more coloring books, along with a journal and a notebook.

I’m wondering if anyone is actually making money this way without doing extra advertising. Should I keep making more books in the hope that one might become popular eventually, or am I just wasting my time?

Publishing coloring books and other low-content books on platforms like Amazon can indeed be a way to earn passive income, but success can vary greatly depending on various factors. While some authors do achieve significant sales without extra advertising, it’s essential to understand the dynamics of the market and optimize your strategy accordingly.

Here are a few considerations:

  1. Niche Selection: Coloring books and journals come in various themes and niches. Researching popular niches and trends can help you target your books to a specific audience, increasing their appeal and potential for sales.

  2. Quality and Presentation: Ensure that your books are of high quality, both in terms of content and presentation. Eye-catching covers, well-designed interior pages, and engaging content can make your books stand out from the competition.

  3. Keywords and Optimization: Optimize your book listings with relevant keywords and descriptions to improve their visibility in search results. This can help potential customers discover your books more easily.

  4. Reviews and Feedback: Encourage satisfied customers to leave positive reviews, as this can boost your book’s credibility and encourage more sales. Pay attention to feedback and make improvements based on customer suggestions.

  5. Diversification: Consider diversifying your portfolio by creating books in different niches or formats. This can help mitigate the risk of relying on a single book to generate sales.

  6. Patience and Persistence: Building a successful passive income stream takes time and persistence. Keep refining your strategy, experimenting with different approaches, and learning from both successes and failures.

Ultimately, whether you should continue creating more books depends on your goals, resources, and level of commitment. While it’s possible to achieve success in this space, it’s essential to manage your expectations and be prepared to adapt to changing market conditions.

I wonder if Amazon books are good for coloring or writing in. They might need special bindings. I haven’t bought one, so I’m not sure. I publish other books on KDP and sometimes sell them.

You might want to use Amazon Ads. It helps sell more, but it might feel like you’re giving Amazon money just to get some back now and then.
