Broke and disabled: any ideas for earning from home?

Hey everybody, like the title says, I am broke and disabled (not completely, I got diagnosed with an autoimmune condition).

At the moment I’m unable to work offline due to my illness, so I am here to ask you what would you do to earn like 500 dollars per month, just to start, from any type of online income.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot

P.S.: I’m not living in the U.S.

I just got my mom set up as a remote data labeller. AI is all the buzz right now, but the coal that fuels that engine is labeled data. Want to train a computer vision algorithm to find pigeons? There’s an army of people looking at photos and telling the computer where the pigeons are. They are all different but it’s the same basic story: take pictures, draw a box around what they are looking for and label. You usually get paid per image and if you get proficient it’s about $13-$20 an hour, if you get REALLY good it can be up to $30-$40. Ziprecruiter maintains a solid list:

@Goolding
Thanks a lot I will give it a look!

Phone work.

Pick up the phone and call ten roofers, ten HVAC companies, ten plumbing companies, ten electricians, ten yard guys.

Fifty calls… and less than 5 of them will actually pick up the phone.

Their customers then call the next service provider… they lose tens of thousands by not answering their phones.

Sure would be nice if somebody could do that for them.

@LONAH
Could be an idea… thank you!

Five hundred dollars a month is a good goal. Since you’re not in the US, the gig economy stuff might be a little different, but things like freelance writing, virtual assistant work, or online tutoring could be options. If you’re creative, maybe try selling digital art or designs on Etsy or something. It’s tough starting out, but you can build up a client base over time. I’ve been investing a bit myself, and while it’s not exactly ‘working from home,’ it can generate some income. Check out Investopedia to get a grip on the basics. Since you’re dealing with health stuff, definitely pace yourself and don’t burn out.

@Davin
Thank you very much for your suggestions!

All my side hustles (apart from property) were done from home. You just need to find something that suits you. If you enjoy writing, try writing on Medium. You’ll need to check that your country qualifies to earn there. As for other side hustles that worked for me, see https://old.reddit.com/user/sidehustle2025/comments/1ddi01x/i_made_750000_from_my_side_hustles_and_decide_to/

@Angel
Thanks a lot, I will look into it!

Well… how much do you want to put in to get that $500 out? It takes money to make money.

I have as much time as needed. It can be a job kind of work also, not only investment.

Almost the same as me. I can only work from home. There are lots of works you can do from home, but it doesn’t mean you will get it. You can get work from sites like Fiverr, though it’s hard to compete with other people there. So you might want to work for yourself. There are many ways, you can google them yourself. But I think you might give this a try: website + affiliate link.

@Quinlan
You mean Amazon affiliate program?

Yes!!! Happy to help.

What would it be? Thank you!

You may consider transcription which is not a tough one to do. Also you may want to look at KDP with the assistance of AI or affiliate marketing as well. With all that being said you can still be having fun with TG minigames like Moonbix, Blum and Boinkers, and equally earn from them in the long run.

@Avery
Thank you very much, I will give it a look!

Got decent internet? Running a few crypto nodes on your PC could be worth a shot. I’ve got a couple going myself, and one has actually paid out pretty nicely. It’s not a get-rich-quick thing, but it adds up over time. There are a bunch of easy setups out there—Grass, Koii, NodePay. If you’re curious and need a hand setting it up, just shoot me a message. I’m happy to help!
