How Can I Make $50/Day on Winter Break?

I’m on winter break and hoping to earn $50 a day. Any simple ideas or advice? Open to online or in-person work. Thanks in advance!

Snow plow or shoveling. Hang Christmas lights for people. Offer to do Christmas shopping for people.

That’s a good idea, I heard people pay quite a bit for Christmas lights help and other decorations, hanging them up/taking them down.

Servers in the right spot can make great money during the holidays. If you say you’ll work your summer breaks there it can lead to a seasonal job you can rely on. As a restaurant manager I always had 5 -10 seasonal servers that made holiday and summer breaks easier for everyone. Cash in your pocket every night plus a paycheck

You can make that or more cash babysitting on the days kids are off from school. You could ask around, or join a site like care.com.

If you are at all tech savvy, offer to help older people with some of their various tech tasks - a tech handyman so to speak. Setting up new devices, installing apps, password management, etc.

I’ve thought about this but what are places you could find demand and little supply? Where would I go to advertise my help or find people that need it?

Lots of snowblowers on marketplace in my area for 175 for a decent one make more than that hitting 6 houses for 35

If you’re in pretty good shape I’d suggest doing landscaping for others in your neighborhood or ask online if anyone needs help. Raking leaves, shoveling snow. My dad makes $20 an hour landscaping for customers.

Is he self employed? He’s way under charging if so imo. I charge 3x that to clean houses.

He is self employed, yes.

If he’s in the US, the self-employment tax is going to destroy his net pay unless it’s actual cash cash payments.

@Nyx
I think most of his customers do pay in cash. Though you can also get a lot of tax write-offs for things you buy for the business.

@Kai
So does he have to threaten his middle school competition in the neighborhood?

Is that what you think landscapers do? In my experience I’ve never seen my dad taking yards from kids that want to help out. If anything, we need more kids out there asking for those jobs, there’s more yards to be done than time in a day!

I would just walk dogs.

Lol I did this in college until I ended up with a crazy blind woman who was treating her absolutely normal Labrador like a guide dog, would tell me to “let him socialise on walks but don’t let him off lead and dont let other dogs get close because they’re dirty. Don’t let his paws get muddy, but he needs to be allowed to explore. He needs lots of exercise, but if you walk fast you’ll give him cancer.”

She did my bloody head in.

I used to fund a serious candy habit going up into the hills behind the neighborhood, climbing some oak trees and chopping down mistletoe. Then cut it and divide into smaller bunches, wrap with ribbon and post up in front of grocery stores.

I was a kid at the time. Marketing aspect might not be as easy if you look like you could reproduce.
