Hey everyone, I’m a software developer and have built multiple apps that I really think are useful, however, I have zero marketing experience and therefore my apps only get customers in the first 2-3 days of release when I post about them and that’s it. Even if I post about them later, no one actually takes interest in the post then. So can you please help me learn or suggest some case studies that can improve or fix this issue?
Create videos that show your software in action, or a video of someone using your software. For your caption, think of what your software solves and write your copy on that. We sometimes focus too much on features and forget to focus on your ideal client. What’s in it for them? Use AI to generate hooks for your video. End your caption with a call to action.
@Parker
Amazing
Sounds like one option would be to partner up with a marketer, or hire. It’s really not an uncommon situation to be in. Plenty of business owners/creators have particular skill sets and they’re never going to cover everything a business needs.
To reflect your question back at you, imagine me writing ‘Hey I’ve got a lot of experience marketing and have a great idea for an app but no experience. Can someone point me towards how I can start learning to code?’
I have a contact who has about ten years experience in business development. Depends what the apps are as to whether it would be a good fit.

Makes total sense. How do I find marketing people who might be willing for equity based partnerships?

You can go over to r/marketing or r/marketers and r/hiring and put up a post requesting someone willing to be a part of an equity based partnership.
Make sure you’ve worked out a couple questions to ask before taking them too seriously.
Some people are desperate for work and will tell you they can do it because they think they can learn marketing on the fly.
@Hartley
Amazing. Thank you

Will DM.
Tell the story tapping into the Why your target market wants to use your app. How will it make the user feel?
People often buy based on emotion, not logic. That’s why candy bars are in the checkout aisle at a grocery store.
When Microsoft Excel first came out, they had a commercial that showed two businessmen in an elevator scrambling because they didn’t put together a report for work. One person was stressed that they would get fired for not being prepared. The other broke out his laptop and was able to put together the report and reformat it. The commercial showed Excel’s features and benefits. There were also 2 bystanders saying, “my spreadsheet doesn’t do that.” By the end of the elevator ride, the report was finished and formatted. They were able to deliver it to their boss, and the boss was impressed.
-Emotion: stress, convenience, hero, reward
Also go on apps like Swagbucks.com, go to the bottom to “advertise with us”. Swagbucks offers a point incentive for people to download your app.
@Leith
So helpful. Thanks man
There are some sites/apps that let you find posts where the user has a problem or talks about a topic related to your app, and it generates a personalized response with the intent of soft promoting it.
SuggestReply.com is the one I’m using. I like it because it searches posts for me but it also gives the possibility to manually select them and generate a personalized response. Furthermore, it also has a feature where you can extract content from the screen (in case you need to reply to a post that only contains an image for instance).
@Lior
This is cool.

I already follow this guy but so far he just markets his products that are mostly related to marketing. My niche is a bit different. But I will still dig deep. Thanks for sharing.
If you can’t find someone willing for an equity based partnership, think about doing a competitive analysis. Fund a competitor successfully getting their apps out there and just mirror their process.
The best thing you can do is create short videos on the apps and post them where your audience is. For example, if it’s something that removes your background then Instagram and TikTok are the best places to make content for. On the other side, if it is niche content, then choose LinkedIn, Reddit, or C.
If you’re looking for consistent growth, paid ads (even small budgets) could give your app a boost. Or go the content route, write posts that solve the problem your app fixes. You could even use something like Hydro to indirectly monetize that content if it gets traction. Honestly, sometimes a simple demo video with a clear value proposition does more than 10 posts.
@Marley
What’s Hydro?
Consistency! Keep posting them.
