How Much Money Can You Earn Using Google Ad Revenue?

I have been looking at different sites that get a lot of traffic and are full of ads. I’m curious to understand how much ad revenue these sites can make and how much traffic you have to reach to earn decent ad revenue?

I’m thinking in terms of $1K to $5K revenue.

To make $1K to $5K per month in ad revenue, here’s a simpler explanation:

  1. Traffic Volume: The amount you earn depends on how much traffic you get and the types of ads you run. Generally, for display ads (like Google AdSense), you’d need around 100,000 to 500,000 monthly visitors to hit $1K to $5K in revenue. This can vary a lot depending on the ad rates.

  2. Ad Rates: Ad rates are often measured in CPM (cost per 1,000 views). Typical CPMs range from $2 to $10, depending on the niche, country, and ad type. If your CPM is $5, for example, you’d need 200,000 views to make $1K.

  3. Niche & Audience: Higher-paying niches (like finance, tech, or health) typically get better CPM rates, while general or entertainment topics usually get lower rates.

In short, the amount of traffic you need varies based on your audience, ad placement, and niche, but 100K to 500K visitors per month is a decent ballpark to aim for to earn $1K to $5K.

@Adi
That sums it up very well. In the travel niche last year, I made only $20 for around 5k monthly views. Based on that, I’d need 250k views to get $1k. It was low season, though, so it might have picked up during high season. But this fits well with what you said.

I gave up because it was a waste of time.

If you could get 100k views, you’d do better with affiliate links and sponsored posts; AdSense is the worst option.

How do you set up sponsored posts? Does this also come under Google Ads?

You contact suitable companies and ask if they want a sponsored post, or you wait for them to contact you. You’ll need a successful site before that happens, though.

The ads you’re talking about are AdSense. Google Ads are different; you pay for them to advertise your site/products.

@Tatum
Got it, sorry about the dumb questions. I’m a newbie in this field.

You probably don’t want to set up ad spaces under sponsored posts anyway. As someone who occasionally buys ads at work, one thing I look for is the potential to avoid competitors’ products being advertised near our sponsored content. You’ll make much more from sponsored posts than you would from ad space on that traffic, so just disable it for that page.

@Adi
Thanks for the super crisp response. I was surfing the web and was unable to get a clear answer and was confused with the different options.

My website is http://avjo.ai/, it’s in the Fintech & Market range, sharing info about IPOs in Indian markets. I’m currently getting 300 daily visitors, which is around 10,000 monthly users within a launch of 2 weeks.

Hoping to increase that scale by 10x.

The share market niche has great CPM.

Thanks man, rooting for this to take off.

The amount of money you can make through Google Ad revenue, particularly with Google AdSense or YouTube ads, depends on several factors including your content, niche, audience size, traffic, and the types of ads shown.

The more traffic or views you generate, the higher your potential earnings. A blog with 100,000 visitors per month or a YouTube channel with 1 million views per month will naturally earn more than smaller sites or channels.

For example, if you get 1,000 clicks on ads with a $1 CPC rate, you’d make $1,000. If your website serves 100,000 ad impressions with a $5 CPM, you’d make $500.

Just to add, since you seem interested in passive income, you might want to explore NATIX. They reward users for mapping as they drive.

Okay. I think it will interest you.

To make $1K to $5K in Google Ad revenue, you generally need substantial traffic. The amount depends on factors like niche, location, and ad types, but on average, you might need around 100,000 to 500,000 monthly visitors.

High paying niches like finance or tech can help you hit that goal faster, but for many, it takes time and consistent content growth to achieve this level of revenue.

Is there any way to check the traffic websites get for research purposes?

I use Semrush.

Ad revenue typically ranges from $0.2 to $2.5 per 1,000 views. The amount varies based on factors such as your site’s content, user location, time spent on the site, and device type. Use our AdSense revenue calculator to estimate your website’s earnings.
