How to make 200 a month?

Right now, I’m learning accounting while also working part-time at a supermarket for minimum wage. I’ve been juggling both for two years, but I hardly get any free time, especially on weekends. So, I’ve decided to quit my supermarket job and focus solely on my apprenticeship.

But, I recently bought a new car, which costs me £270 every month. My supermarket job helped me pay for this and also contributed to covering my living expenses at home. So, I need to find something else to replace that income quickly.

I used to run an Etsy store, which was making around £400 in profit each month. Sadly, it got suspended after just two months because I was dropshipping. It was easy and didn’t take up much time. Now, I’m trying to start a Shopify store to continue selling online, but I know it’ll be tough without Etsy’s good reputation.

I’m wondering if there are any other online opportunities I could explore?

Given your background in running an Etsy store and your interest in exploring other online opportunities, here are a few suggestions for potential income streams:

  1. Freelancing: Consider offering your skills and expertise in accounting or related fields as a freelancer. You could provide services such as bookkeeping, tax preparation, financial analysis, or virtual assistance to small businesses or individuals. Websites like Upwork, Freelancer, and Fiverr are popular platforms for finding freelance work.
  2. Affiliate Marketing: Explore affiliate marketing as a way to earn passive income by promoting products or services and earning a commission for each sale or referral. You can join affiliate programs related to your interests or niche and promote products through your website, blog, social media channels, or email list.
  3. Online Tutoring: Leverage your accounting knowledge and skills to offer online tutoring or coaching services to students or professionals. You can teach accounting principles, help with exam preparation, or provide personalized guidance and support.
  4. Digital Products: Create and sell digital products such as e-books, courses, templates, or printables related to accounting, finance, or other topics you’re knowledgeable about. Platforms like Gumroad or Teachable allow you to easily create and sell digital products to a global audience.
  5. Dropshipping (Legitimate Methods): If you’re interested in continuing with e-commerce, consider exploring dropshipping using legitimate methods and platforms. Research reputable suppliers and products, build a brand around a specific niche or target audience, and focus on providing value and excellent customer service to differentiate yourself from competitors.
  6. Print-on-Demand: Explore print-on-demand services like Printful or Redbubble to create and sell custom-designed merchandise such as T-shirts, mugs, or phone cases. You can leverage your creativity and design skills to create unique products without the need for inventory or upfront costs.
  7. Content Creation: Monetize your expertise and passion by creating content through blogging, podcasting, YouTube videos, or social media. You can earn revenue through advertising, sponsorships, affiliate marketing, or selling digital products or merchandise.

As you explore these opportunities, consider your skills, interests, and resources, and choose the options that align best with your goals and circumstances. Remember to be patient and persistent, as building a successful online business or income stream often takes time and effort.

Hi Barbara,
It sounds like you’re determined to find alternative sources of income to replace your part-time job at the supermarket. Here are a few online opportunities you could explore:

  1. Freelancing: Consider leveraging your accounting skills to offer freelance services such as bookkeeping, tax preparation, or financial analysis on platforms like Upwork, Freelancer, or Fiverr. Many businesses and individuals are in need of accounting expertise, and freelancing offers flexibility in terms of time commitment.
  2. Virtual Assistance: You could offer virtual assistant services to businesses or entrepreneurs who need help with administrative tasks, email management, scheduling, and more. Platforms like Upwork and Virtual Assistant Forums list job opportunities in this field.
  3. E-commerce: Since you have experience with Etsy and are exploring Shopify, continue exploring e-commerce opportunities. Consider niche markets or products that align with your interests and skills. Research successful e-commerce strategies and marketing techniques to maximize your chances of success.
  4. Online Tutoring: If you have strong knowledge in accounting or other subjects, consider offering online tutoring services to students. Platforms like Tutor.com, Chegg Tutors, and Wyzant connect tutors with students seeking academic assistance.
  5. Affiliate Marketing: Explore affiliate marketing opportunities by promoting products or services through your website, blog, or social media channels. Look for affiliate programs in industries related to your interests or expertise, and earn commissions for referring customers.
  6. Content Creation: If you enjoy writing, creating videos, or producing other forms of content, consider monetizing your skills through platforms like YouTube, Medium, or Patreon. Build an audience around your content and explore various monetization strategies such as advertising, sponsorships, or subscriptions.

Remember to thoroughly research and assess each opportunity before committing your time and resources. It may take some trial and error to find the right fit, but persistence and dedication can lead to success in the online marketplace. Good luck with your endeavors!
