I’ve seen countless claims about earning money online, but so far, nothing concrete has worked for me. Are there any legit ways to make extra income online?
If you’ve had success, what worked for you? Are there specific platforms, side hustles, or strategies you’d recommend to someone just starting out? Any advice would mean a lot…thank you!

People who legit make money and good money online are not online telling people how to make money online…
Trial and error.
This needs to be stickied on the main subreddit lol. It’s just like those ads you see on TV or your phone.
Make 500 a day with this little secret, subscribed to find out!
I’m in my 40s and just what I’ve seen in life, if someone is making $500 a day, I can promise you they aren’t selling their secret for $24.99, $29.99, $14.99 or even $9.99! Regardless if they’re rich or not $500 a day is 500 a day no matter which way you write it down.
And those that are like “oh I’m selling it to this subreddit cause I learned so much from your community” BULLSHIT!!! If (IF) they learned anything from this community and wanted to give back they’d do it for free no strings attached.
I’ll get off my soapbox now. But yes you can make money online, a whole lot of luck and a whole lot of effort needs to happen. For a bit of insight…I make around $8.00 a month in passive. That’s accounting for time/effort/electricity/etc etc.
It’s real, I did it before. 1) Streaming in weird places, no matter what you do if you are a girl you can get money. There are men also. 2) Online bank accounts, like Revolut. When you invite people you can get money… 3) Amazon reviews. There are groups where sellers will refund the money if you place a good review for their products. After that you can sell them online or just keep winning free stuff. 4) Invest money in bitcoin. Long term income, is still working. 5) are you good at something? Maybe with some advise you can create an online business.
After a lot of research I have in my mind a lot of ideas but I’m looking to win money with a job. Because even with all the information and the previous experience finding way to survive online, I cannot trust myself enough to create my own business. I deal with impostor syndrome
I haven’t had a job since 2008. I’ve done eBay, Amazon FBA, blogging, affiliate marketing, site flipping, selling digital products on Etsy etc. Every single one of them works and any one of them can be learned by someone starting out. The best way to learn is just get started on something - learn what you can from YouTube and start. Test fast, fail fast, adjust fast and eventually you’ll start making money. Nobody is going to tell you what to do for free though.
The advice is there, start something, learn as you go and you will either fail or succeed. If you fail then do it again with something else and use the thing you learned from your failure.
There are about a million ways you can earn money online, the second richest man on earth is making money selling shit online.
@Noor
Then let me try to work this a different way. Why bother having a sub if you have a stock answer for everyone? I’m not defending him. I’m asking a valid simple question. As someone that has a vast range of skills and talents, I’m familiar with everything you mentioned. I just fail to understand the standpoint of the so-called advice. You might as well post an automatic answer like the Mod’s that says, “try shit, see what works.”. Because I don’t see a more useless and unhelpful sub with these answers. Thanks anyway, I’ll move on to more interesting and useful ones.
@Jules
I agree that this sub is useless, mostly because people don’t understand what passive income means and talk about online businesses and beer money type ways to earn a few bucks.
OP is asking if there are any avenues that worked for people, the commenter above gave like 6 examples that he made money with. What else do you want? Write a complete business plan of all 6 when OP doesn’t even bother to ask anything specific really?
We don’t know what capabilities he has, what interests him, what has he done before, how much capital he has, what is he willing to learn, how much time does he have available. Asking generic questions like “how to make money online” will always get generic answers.
It’s real but requires time and effort. Not an overnight thing. There are legitimate ways you just need to find the right resources, learn and apply. Some work for others and may not work for you. Depends on skills, motivation, knowledge. List goes on. Reach out if you want more details on resources I’ve come across that could help you. Honestly not a myth, there are so many people out there, working their own hours, on their own terms… making a living from the digital world. Good luck with it all
Depends on what you mean by “making money online.”
Making a full-time income from the internet is very hard, requires you to find your niche, and is definitely not something you’re going to learn from that guy selling videos for $100 a pop.
However, if you’re just looking to make a bit of extra cash, then there are “beer money” sites like freecash where you can make a few extra dollars here and there just by grinding the offers.
It is 100% real. I have been doing it since 2010. Let me give you a few little pieces of what I think should be general knowledge (with the logic sprinkled in behind them).
If someone is trying to sell you something to teach you how to make money online (gurus, influencers, “millionaires”) it will not work. The logic here is simple, if I had a successful business why on earth would I sell a blueprint to my potential competitors showing them how to infiltrate my niche/market? My personal experience here is that once I figured out how to make money online I simply SHUT MY MOUTH. Over the years I have taught only close trusted friends how to make money from affiliate marketing and EVEN THEN I have been burned a few times.
You’re going to lose a lot of money/time in the beginning unless you become extremely lucky somehow. Luck here being defined as going viral on tiktok/insta and then participating in the tiktok shop or promoting products via instagram posts.
The industry is shifting in a lot of ways due to AI. I am in a space (SMS affiliate marketing) that is resistant to the AI trend but I am already planning my exit by investing in real estate, cryptocurrency, and building up my youtube channel (am travel/gambling influencer).
The best way to get started making money online is to look at it from a logical perspective. If the barrier for entry is low (free traffic, social media traffic, buying shout outs on social media) then the results will be low as well. You have to find ways to go against what everyone else is doing. Imagine yourself as the salmon swimming DOWNstream when all the others are swimming upstream and right into the grizzly bear’s mouth.
Now, having said those things if I had to start over today here is what I would do assuming I had around $10,000 to invest:
Step 1: Buy hardware required for SMS marketing (around $5000).
Step 2: Buy cellular service required for SMS marketing ($2400).
Step 3: Buy Data to send SMS messages to ($2500)
Step 4: Buy domains to send the users to ($100).
Once everything is set up, I have a virtual assistant manage the system via remote desktop and then suddenly it becomes mostly passive income.
I apologize if this isn’t the answer you’re looking for because it isn’t exactly easy, but it does work. And while not COMPLETELY passive (I spend about 1 hour a day on my laptop checking stats and writing messages but this is usually done from a cruise ship or somewhere tropical) it doesn’t take much time or effort to maintain. I can even sometimes do it from my iPhone. And it provides me the freedom and flexibility to do whatever I want whenever I want. And it is a life-changing amount of money coming in monthly.
But just remember I’ve been doing this for 14 years now. It won’t happen overnight.

Is this basically the same steps those guys were promoting a few weeks back for a 3k lecture on how to do this?
This looks different, but the message is the same. It’s not “passive” in the beginning, and it’s not “quick.” It takes time and effort (like an actual job). There’s no place where you can just go and make easy money from home with zero effort, money, skill, or time.
You can make money online, but it’s still a job, maybe a non-traditional job, but a job.
