Is print on demand oversaturated

I got a Udemy course even though I could find similar stuff for free online. But hey, it was cheap. The guy in the course talks about print on demand, which sounds cool. You design T-shirts and sell them with little cost on your end. I’m not aiming to be super rich, but making money without too much effort is my goal.

I’ve been doing podcasts for a year, and I’ve earned £2600. It’s not a huge change in my life, and it’s not something I do without being active. But I like doing it, so it feels like getting paid for a hobby. I’m aiming to make that much again in the last quarter of the year, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Print on demand can indeed be a low-cost way to start a side hustle and potentially earn some passive income. Here’s how it generally works:

  1. Design: Create or source designs for T-shirts or other merchandise. This could involve graphic design, illustration, or even clever slogans or quotes.
  2. Choose a Platform: Sign up with a print on demand platform like Printful, Teespring, or Redbubble. These platforms handle the printing, shipping, and customer service for you.
  3. Upload Designs: Upload your designs to the platform and customize products like T-shirts, hoodies, mugs, and more.
  4. Market Your Products: Promote your products through social media, your own website, or online marketplaces like Etsy or Amazon.
  5. Earn Profit: When someone purchases a product with your design, the print on demand platform prints and ships the item, and you earn a commission on the sale.

While print on demand can be a relatively low-effort way to make money, success often depends on factors like the quality of your designs, your marketing efforts, and your ability to target the right audience. It’s also important to keep in mind that competition in this space can be fierce, so finding a niche or unique angle for your designs can help you stand out.

Print on demand can be a great way to generate passive income, especially if you enjoy designing and have a knack for creating appealing designs. Here’s how you can get started with print on demand:

  1. Choose a Platform: There are several print-on-demand platforms like Printful, Teespring, Redbubble, and Merch by Amazon where you can upload your designs and sell products like T-shirts, hoodies, mugs, and more.
  2. Create Designs: Spend time creating unique and eye-catching designs that appeal to your target audience. Consider niche markets or trending topics to stand out from the competition.
  3. Set Up Your Store: Sign up for an account on your chosen print-on-demand platform and create your online store. Customize your store with your branding and product listings featuring your designs.

Not a big deal and not just sitting around (from what I’ve seen), but I’ve been doing podcasting for a year and earned £2600 GBP. I like doing it, so it feels like getting paid for a hobby. I’m aiming to make that again in Q4, but we’ll see.
