Legit Side Hustles for a Busy Highschooler That Don't Require Any Large Investments?

So I’m a student going through a lot in life, plus having school and life is overwhelming. I can’t have an actual job due to being a full-time student and I can’t drive either. I would prefer to start for free, either online or locally; very small investments in something like equipment could also do. I need something safe so I don’t freak out my parents. I live in an area with no grass plus we never get snow, I have allergies to most stuff, I don’t like kids, I know that narrows it down a lot, but is there anything I could do that meets my needs?

(edit): By investments, I mean money, so I’m looking for something that requires no money to start or very little. Sorry for the confusion.

Technically, yes, but everything out there requires you to put in some effort and actually use a web browser to search around. Or at least visit this sub’s most commented posts.

Get a popcorn machine for about $70 and sell popcorn outdoors at nearby places.

Wouldn’t I need a food permit? And $70 is a lot for me at the moment…

It’s called cottage law; it depends on where you are, but yeah, starting a small hustle could be great.

Here’s a list of everything I do online, either on the computer or a phone app that I have had success with. Hopefully, this helps!

Lots of high school students have jobs. Also, if you have any money, invest in getting your driver’s license.

Branding for local businesses or businesses you find via social media takes no money to start; you just need to get the clients.

You have two options:

  1. Write
  2. Draw

And a third, maybe:

  1. Do graphics.

Writing is completely free, but you need some skills, which are free too (but hard to get). Drawing is similar but you can be more ‘free’ without the technical aspect. Graphics is free but requires some tools that could be expensive, though you can start with nothing.

Writing: You can start a blog and then write for others. This helps build a portfolio.

Drawing: Use Instagram. If you’re good, you can make money easily. Sell or customize things.

Graphics: Make free stuff for others; eventually, someone will pay for it. Build a portfolio of fake work until you gain real experience.

If you are not creative:

Clean cars, make money, buy cleaning tools. Document your process, seek out luxury cars. Start learning code; the world needs more coders. You could sell items you own, purchase inexpensive goods, sell them, and repeat. Very difficult but potentially rewarding if done well.

Lastly, jokingly, you could scam people if that interests you, but we don’t endorse that.

Do you have access to a laptop daily? You can grind out these Survey/Task Sites and make decent change if you put in effort. If that doesn’t work, consider reselling items from thrift shops/flea markets on Facebook Marketplace!

@Blaine
I do have a desktop; it’s not the most up-to-date device, but it works. I’ve tried surveys, but they pay very little and I’ve become burnt out. I’ve only tried Prolific and they blocked my IP address for no reason. I have a bunch of things at home, but most are worthless. If I were to go to a thrift store, what should I look for?

@Kiran
Look for shoes, sound bars, gaming items, controllers, or furniture. If you clean these items up and sell them on FB Marketplace, Poshmark, or Craigslist, you could make a decent amount with effort.
