I’m a 14-year-old boy from Victoria, Australia, turning 15 soon, and I’m trying to save up for something. I want to make $200 a week, but it’s tough to find jobs at my age that pay that much, especially since I can only work limited hours and days by law. I’ve tried freelancing on Fiverr, but it’s slow, with barely any real customers and a bunch of scammers. I’m open to online ideas or other ways to earn; any suggestions would be a big help!
I cut lawns and painted fences to pay for school when I was your age. Look into that. People always need cheaper labor.

How much did you charge per lawn? I don’t think painting is my thing; I’m horrible at it , and did you do it on weekends?
@Shan
I would go along and find houses that have pretty overgrown yards and see what they are willing to pay to have you mow it. These can be done at a discount even to build a portfolio of what you can do to show other potential clients. This will also let you start to figure out a price to charge.
@Shan
I’d do it after school (less sun and cooler) and weekend mornings and afternoons. I’m in my 30s, but when I was a teen it was like $20 a lawn. Mind you, think 1200-2000 sq ft avg American home. No mansions.

If he is creative or likes graphics, he could maybe look into creating creative ads for businesses on Upwork? People tend to pay good money for that, and there’s a big demand for it. Or even get leads for businesses?
Also, career growth in marketing can be both challenging and rewarding.
A few tips that have helped me: specialize in a niche area like content strategy or analytics to stand out, stay updated on trends (I watch a lot of YouTube videos to learn and read trends.co ($300/year) and theadvault.co.uk (free) religiously), and get comfortable with analytics; knowing how to measure and interpret results is key.
He could maybe do this on the side and learn while doing?
Also, networking with other marketers has been invaluable for learning and staying connected in the industry.
Hope this helps; you can do it!
@Storm
Tried Upwork yesterday . The problem is to cash out I need to be over 18, and then I connected my PayPal, and the names didn’t match up, so they thought I was a scammer or something . Ended up just losing my account because of that.
@Shan
That’s unlucky. In that case, sign up for Fiverr and position yourself as the premium offer compared to the others.
@Shan
Try reaching out to them through their support ticket. I had the same issue when trying to sign up. You can, if you want, add that email you used for Upwork to your PayPal email list and contact Upwork’s support after that.
Wash some cars, good money in that.

Ok, thanks .
@Kei
Well, with a lawn mower, the neighbors will already have that, or your parents will, so he could just do the labor. But it’s still kind of unrealistic for a fifteen-year-old to make 200 in a week ASAP without asking his parents or with a deep clean, just my opinion tho.

$50 a car to start with easily, then improve your quality and get more clientele, then up it to $100.
@Kei
Fifty for a car wash is insane. My local one costs 25 max, and that’s with everything included. Best bet with car washes is to go around and ask neighbors if you can do it, or mow their grass, etc. Sometimes they’ll overpay you; other times they’ll underpay you, but you won’t get any clients with 50… unless you’re talking about those TikTok guys who do deep cleans; but to start that you need a bit of money first, good luck kiddo.
@AlenderMoney
Interior/exterior grooming mate, $150 minimum in New Zealand. It’s money for jam. Just gotta learn how to do it right and away ya go, kid can start easily with $150-200. Obviously not just a scrub on the outside lol.
@Kei
Maybe, but I’m from the States . We have something similar; you just have to do it yourself. But still, wouldn’t that cost money for the materials / supplies? If he’s fifteen and needs money, I doubt he has it to invest in a bigger asset; so maybe he should just start with mowing lawns? Way easier and the supplies are there already. Then again, it’s winter season… assuming since he asked, he wants it ASAP, and not from a regular job since it would take a while to get 200, so content creation is most likely out the mumbo jumbo. Not much a kid can do to make money for real though.
@AlenderMoney
There’s also a difference between a hand wash vs a drive-through car wash, and people will pay for that difference. Between the labor cost and chemicals, $50 isn’t a bad price for an exterior hand wash and dry.
@AlenderMoney
Yeah, you do have to pay for supplies, but you also have to pay for a lawn mower? So the price will be the same if not cheaper for car grooming; like bro said, people pay the difference because the quality of the job is better, and most like to see someone young doing it rather than asking… :male_sign:.
Ask neighbors for some job. To earn $200 weekly for a 14yo is quite a lot. You should start building your own social.
