What business would you start if you had a lot of money?

If you suddenly came into a large sum of money, what kind of business would you open? Would you go for a franchise? I know it’s a broad question, but I have some time to explore and figure out what I’d like to do. Just hoping to get inspired by what others would suggest. Thanks!

What interests do you have?

Or what do you already know about?

You should make a list or mind map of the things you’re passionate about. You can make a business out of almost anything, but it doesn’t mean you’ll enjoy it.

Yes, for sure. Thanks for the advice. I made this post to see what others would do for some inspiration

Vending machines, ATMs, dumpster rentals, bouncy house rentals, window cleaning, car detailing, remote control car tracks, or even a hybrid real/virtual dating app could work.

Depends on how much we’re talking about. I’d invest a chunk in real estate, some in ETFs, maybe some in more traditional businesses like storage units or car washes. I’d also put a little in higher-risk areas like crypto.

I looked into car washes, but my town has way too many already. I don’t like the idea of adding another one. Storage units sound great, though! I’ll definitely explore that. Thanks!

I’ve always said if I won the lottery, I’d buy a McDonald’s or two. They’re pretty much guaranteed to make money. I’ve heard a lot of stories about lottery winners going broke, so I’d want to secure my finances first. I’m no expert, but I hope this helps in some way.

Yes, I’m getting a large sum in November and more payments every year until 2032. I want to be smart about it, save as much as possible, and live like I’m not receiving that money. A business would help me do that.

Do something you’re interested in. If I were going the franchise route, I’d probably look into Krispy Kreme. But good luck getting a location!

Owning a Krispy Kreme sounds both exciting and dangerous for my health haha

What type of franchise are you thinking of?

I’m looking for something where I don’t have to be super hands-on. An established brand that can mostly run on its own.

How about a Wingstop?

How about starting a doggy daycare shuttle service? You pick up the dogs in the morning, take them to daycare, and drop them off at the end of the day. It sounds like the best job ever!

I absolutely love this idea!

Daycare businesses, especially near military bases. Those areas often have a shortage of childcare options.

I’m a bit worried about the legal side of things when it comes to working with kids. I don’t know enough about that industry to feel comfortable, but I do think it could be a rewarding career for the right person. My two kids had bad daycare experiences, so I’d love to see someone passionate about childcare make a difference.

I’d suggest investing in a digital business that generates passive income, like SaaS, KDP, or e-commerce. I bought an underperforming dropshipping business last year, and now it makes around $2k a month. It’s been my best investment.
