Does anyone know of any recommendations for a landowner who owns about five acres?
Canāt beat free money if you donāt have to manage the 10 acres and still generate revenue.
I would start with 1/2 to 2 acres and convert it to produce something you can propagate and manage. What you raise or grow depends on the climate and water availability. Look at what other agribusinesses in your region are successfully doing.
Alternatively, you can consider leasing part or all of the land to other agribusinesses. Livestock businesses sometimes lease land to graze their animals, and market farms do this as well.
Another option is dividing the land and selling parcels.
However, you should consider zoning limitations. You might have none, which is ideal, but there are still local regulations for running businesses that you need to be aware of. For example, my mom started a āhip campā business on her property and was shut down by the county for running an unlicensed campground, even though she lived at the end of a 5-mile dirt road, 30 miles from the nearest town.
With 10 Acres of raw land, i would build a home, set a side some land for farming and establish myself.
I would recommend that you set aside land for agricultural production depending on its suitability. That is, I would prefer practising crop cultivation, livestock keeping or run an orchard.
Search on YouTube for āland hackingā. Basically glamping compounds, wedding venues in converted barns, etc. There is a woman who put some exotic animals on her property (like Zebra) to get Agricultural Tourism permits and she makes like $50,000/month from 10 glorified tents at $100/night (the first $25k/month) plus a wedding/event barn which makes $25k/month.
It depends with the type of land. If the land is suitable, you could develop it for recreational use, such as creating trails for hiking or biking, setting up a campground, or even offering outdoor activities like fishing or hunting.
