I’m just starting my career as a remote software developer in India, working as a freelancer. I’m looking for easy ways to earn passive income apart from my main job. Any suggestions would be really helpful. I literally have no money to invest.

I find it funny how almost every post here is more about side hustles than actual passive income.

So you want to do zero hours of daily work and still earn passive income? The only way to make that happen is through stocks or ETFs. Shaking my head…
@Ben
The idea of passive income is pretty straightforward. Generally, there’s a big upfront cost. With stocks, for example, investing $1,000 isn’t really going to bring you great passive income. But as someone mentioned, you could build an app; once it’s out there, it can generate income. The hitch is that it’s not just a 3-hour task.
If you’re a software developer, consider creating apps and selling them for profit or earning through subscriptions. No magic here. Also, if you’re putting in 2 to 3 hours daily, it doesn’t count as passive income. You’re working those hours on it.
Website flipping is a good option. I build, grow, and sell websites for profit. The last one I sold helped pay my mortgage for the month and got me $2,400. It’s really fun and rewarding. Many people in tech do it.
@Lex
What types of websites are in demand? I’ve looked at Flippa, but I mostly see old websites (businesses).

You can filter by age to find starter sites. I also check sold listings to spot trends.

Why not make an app?
Could you share more details about that idea?

Dude, just build the app, and you can make money.

Dude, that sounds great.
Without any money to invest, it’s almost impossible. There are lower investment options in digital marketing, but doing it with no investment is tough. If you’ve heard of Canva, they offer one month free. You can create digital products with it, but after that, you’ll be charged. My best passive income investment has been in digital marketing. I’m happy to share some low-cost (free for 30 days) ideas. If you can generate profit in that time, it’ll be free. Starting options like Amazon KDP and selling digital products are worth trying. Feel free to message me if you want more details.
You could partner with us. We can build and fully manage your eCommerce store on Walmart for you, and you earn profits. But even that requires some startup money. It’s hard to start passive income with zero dollars.
To earn any passive income, you first need to actively create something through a side hustle, then it can start bringing in money on its own. For beginners, passive income and side hustles often feel the same. If you have zero investment, it’s really tough to begin any side hustle. You might consider website flipping or app creation, but those usually need some funds. Amazon affiliate marketing could be a good start, where you also learn digital marketing along the way. I’m working on my own side income through digital marketing and selling digital products, which have decent commissions. Let’s connect if you want to chat more about it.
It’s not really passive if it takes up your time.
Look into BTCfi on Sui. Just Google it.
Consider creating an Instagram account (or just use your existing one) and start searching for ‘online passive income.’ Do this for days or weeks until the Instagram algorithm recognizes your interests. You’ll find great ideas shared by content creators based on your activity. I’ve never found the answers in forums like these; the best insights come when I search for them myself. You can also do this on X and TikTok, but honestly, Instagram’s algorithm is top-notch after you use it for a while.
