I’ve seen some people treat surveys as a serious source of income, but it really depends on where you live. In places like the US, with platforms like Swagbucks and Survey Junkie, it seems possible to earn some decent money. However, in other areas, like my country, survey opportunities are few and the pay is really low.
Have you been able to make surveys your main source of income?
With something like user testing, you might make minimum wage if you work non-stop for 10 hours a day. Honestly, considering the effort needed, getting a full-time or part-time job would be much easier. I think of survey money as just a little extra cash, like vending machine snacks.
No lol. I make about 100 dollars a month on Prolific and Connect, and that’s about it. Plus, you’re competing with a lot of people for the survey spots, including bots.

If you’re talking about surveys like focus groups, then no. But they can pay well and can provide good side income if you’re in the right area.

Absolutely not. Not even close. If you want to work from your phone and make a full-time income, there are better options.
Thanks, and what are those options?
They aren’t easy but can be profitable. I do both.
First is faceless digital marketing. I sell digital products like ebooks using a faceless Instagram account. I post once or twice a day about the products.
I’ve been doing this for 8 months and made over 1,000 dollars in my first week.
Second is sponsored content. I built a TikTok account and started working with brands for sponsorships. I made 1,800 dollars last week doing this.
If you don’t have a social following, you can try UGC. A creator I follow started UGC and made 20,000 dollars in his first 2 months.
The most I made was probably like 3,000 dollars a month, but even that isn’t enough to live on after taxes. So to answer your question, it’s not very likely.

I guess that 3,000 dollars a month is enough for those living in rural areas.
No, I usually make 250 to 400 dollars a month on Prolific. About 500 to 600 if I’m really lucky. But on average, that’s 3,900 dollars a year. It’s great “beer money,” but not enough for a full-time job.
Also, there’s hardly any security in making money from surveys. You could be removed from the platform at any time without warning, and they don’t have to explain why.
Finally, making money from research participation hardly counts as “passive income.”
