These suggestions aren’t online, but they are great for teens looking to make some cash.
You could try pet sitting or walking dogs. Pet sitting usually just means going to the pet owner’s house once or twice a day to feed them, give them water, and maybe take them outside. Just check Google for pet sitting rates in your area.
You can also consider offering dog poop cleanup services in yards. You just need gloves, a trash bag or a tool to help. Again, check local business rates for pricing.
You could work on selling your art online. It does take a lot of effort though since being a good artist requires practice. Plus, managing social media to attract buyers can be a ton of work.
That said, there’s no age limit on being an artist. It may become easier once you build up your follower base and can sell prints or digital work. You could also explore Print on Demand companies, but they take a large cut of your profits.
You might also check out marketing and user experience research panels. Different areas have companies that pay around 125 dollars an hour for focus groups and similar activities. Just keep in mind that you might not always qualify for everything as they have specific profiles they’re looking for.
I once made a lot of money by raising baby goats and charging people to take pictures with them or milk them. You might also consider starting a baking or cooking business and selling frozen treats or meals. Babysitting is also a standard option.
Making money online can be really hard for adults and even tougher for teens, unless you can make viral content on social media.
You probably have things lying around your house that you don’t use anymore. Guess what, there’s a marketplace for that. Just clean things up, take good photos, and sell them on Facebook Marketplace or eBay. Even as a 13 year old, this is doable.
Also, your time can be valuable. If you know people with young kids, offer to babysit for them occasionally. Spread the word with those you know or post in your local Facebook group.
Another thing is to ask your parents if there’s anything you can do for money around home. People often pay to have their closets or basements organized. Since you already live there, you might know how to help better than a stranger.
I used to sell bubble gum in middle school and easily made 5 dollars a day. Just buy candy or gum when it’s on sale or at a dollar store, then charge double the price at school. For example, buy candy bars for 1 dollar each and sell them for 2 dollars. If you sell five a day, that’s 5 dollars in your pocket.
Otherwise, you can ask your neighbors (make sure you have adult supervision) if they need help walking dogs, taking care of pets, pulling weeds, or similar tasks. Or maybe your parents would give you a larger allowance for doing extra chores?
Most importantly, stay safe. Don’t send or accept direct messages, and be cautious of people online claiming they’re your age or can help you for personal information.
I wish you luck and hope you learn some positive lessons along the way, and get to that laptop soon.
This might not be the best idea, but if you’re good at school, maybe consider doing some of your classmates’ homework for money? I know it’s not the right thing to do, but if you need cash, it seems like a safer way to go.
You will need an adult to help, because this isn’t an online strategy.
When I was 6, my older siblings and I thought we needed a trampoline. Back in 2001, there was a deal where you could buy boxes of donuts at Krispy Kreme for a dollar each. My dad took us to sell those donuts at local businesses during their lunch breaks.
We offered them for 5 dollars a box. It was an easy sell because we explained why we wanted to earn money. In hindsight, I think my dad made more money than we realized because we sold a lot to get that trampoline. It was a fun experience.
You’re young and innocent, which can really help in your favor. People like convenience, so if you find a hardworking group, offer them something to snack on. Who knows, you might even start a little business.
I’d recommend learning a skill and using it to make money. I started in real estate sales in Dubai, but then I learned about managing Airbnb properties and helping clients. That’s how I grew.
Start with one skill and expand it to create income, then use that money to learn more and invest in better tools to make even more money. You could also look into affiliate programs and partnerships with well-known companies to earn commissions per client.
I understand she’s a kid, but I want to share ways for her to earn money. At least she’s trying to do something, which is better than other kids getting into trouble.
