I inherited 60 acres of land. What should I do next?

I inherited 60 acres of land in Louisiana a few years ago and haven’t done anything with it. I want to make some extra money from it but still keep the land. The problem is I live far away and have never seen the land. I just pay property tax every year. The land has been in my family for over 100 years. In the past, they sold timber and had a small company drilling on it. Now, it doesn’t make any money for me.

Where should I start to find out what I can do with it? I’ve looked into starting a farm or subleasing the land, but I’m not sure what to do since I’m 2000 miles away. Any other advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Read recently about somebody turning their few acres into a lavender farm. Makes 200k/year.

To begin with, engage a nearby land management business to evaluate possibilities such as leasing for solar farming, hunting, or timber harvesting. For passive income, look into remote management opportunities.
