Just Made My First Passive Income … How Did It Happen

I wanted to share my journey with everyone here. It took me six months to create an online course. I worked on it during my spare time since I have a busy 9-5 job.

I published my first course on January 7th and made $135. On my first day of February, I earned $17.99.

Can you break down how to start step by step?

Sure! I work in the tech field and learn about data and AI, so I created slides and tutorials based on what I learn at work.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Find your niche and think about what you can teach.
  2. Create a structure for the videos you’ll record.
  3. Aim for 5-10 minutes per video.
  4. Make PowerPoint slides with animations and explain each point in detail.
  5. Record your videos while capturing your screen; you don’t need to show your face.
  6. Repeat this for all of your videos.
  7. Edit the recordings to fix any mistakes.
  8. Finally, publish it on Udemy

@Xander
That sounds great! I’m just finishing a book on AI prompt writing and I have teaching experience. I think I should look into this.

How did you pull that off?

Well done!

Thank you!

I had my first two students, but they suddenly stopped responding. I have no idea why!

You might want to offer it for free on places like this forum, LinkedIn, and Facebook and ask for reviews. Once you gather some students and positive feedback, Udemy’s algorithm will help promote it more.

Did you advertise it somewhere or did people just find it through Udemy?

I shared it on LinkedIn since I had some connections there, but I’d say about 80% of my revenue came from organic searches on Udemy.

What exactly is this? What do you do?

Congratulations! I hope you can earn even more. Why didn’t you share the link to your Etsy shop?
