Hello all! I am currently working as an intern therapist for $30/hr @ ~20 hours a week. I have graduation and a licensing application upcoming in December, where I will be unable to work at my day job until my license is approved, which is going to be an indeterminate amount of time depending on administrative factors outside of my control. Since I will obviously still need to put food on the table for the unknown amount of time and also would like to be able to afford gift giving this holiday season, does anyone have any ideas of flexible side hustles that may equal my weekly income? Unfortunately, I live in a rural enough area that lyft and/or doordash aren’t particularly a thing out here. I’ve applied for part-time jobs on indeed and glassdoor, but have heard almost nothing (other than a “selected another candidate etc etc.”) back from the myriad of jobs I have applied for. Even with big corporations who need seasonal help, zilch, outside of a “you’re overqualified” response… I currently modified my resume to look like I don’t have a bachelor’s and (almost) master’s degree, but still. The job market is rough…
Won’t be easy or fun work but should pay the same or more is labouring or gardening. Best of contacting any mates in trade to get you onto someone asap who can give you work. Pretty sure usually high turnover rate anyways so I’m sure they won’t mind if you work for a week or months. Might get a nice tan, hopefully no sore back. Zero skill needed just gotta turn up on time and work hard. Not really a side hustle either but will be consistent.
@Emerson
That’s not a bad idea! It is currently headed into the winter in the states though, not sure how much physical labour there may be, although you saying this makes me think hanging Christmas lights for folks might be a good seasonal labor hustle idea hmm.

I think I found the Aussie?
Hi, if you’re into it - doing custom gifts for people leading up to the holidays can make some money (custom stories or poetry or song lyrics or artwork or astrology charts or some analysis you can do that’s pure fun using ChatGPT)
So you sell via Payhip or Etsy and mention in ‘updates’ on social media (“Today I started abc and this is how it’s insane and fun (are you next)”) - also babysitting and pet sitting are local and can be good pay, especially if you offer a 90 min housecleaning while you’re there for an upcharge. I just give out business cards with my rates on them in areas I can serve. Cheap at Staples.
And ask ChatGPT or ClaudeAI or both for ideas.
Writing.
I haven’t found anything more flexible and accessible out there.

Blog posts, articles, email copy - lots of opportunities for freelancing.
I fell into it and it’s become a nice earner.

What would be the best way to jump into this? I’m very good at writing, but it’s mostly been professional emails at my day job and online novels in my free time.
@Adair
Build a small portfolio and go after it

Some special subs on reddit?
@Bailey
Yeah like /hiring.
If you’re the slightest bit attractive to many, you can get wet fully clothed and make some good $. My lovely wife did this for 3 months and made $3500 with about 16 hours of effort in all. Was crazy and easy. There’s wet and messy sites that take a cut and have all the customers you could need and you can make it as PG as you want.
@QUINN
Can you explain more?
@QUINN
More info please! This is definitely an intriguing idea as I used to nude model in college for extra spending $$$ so this isn’t too far out of my comfort zone.
If you have any experience on the phone or think you have what it takes I know a company that hired SDRs (appointment setters). You choose your hours (call when you want). I started over a year ago but I haven’t called since. The money is great I just had other things going. I’m starting back up now.
If interested DM me and I’ll send the link.
@Shannon
Hey there! Could you send me the link please?
