I’m not expecting to make a lot of money, but I’m looking for something that doesn’t cost me all my free time, but still generates some okay money so I can get around for snacks and hobbies (Dungeons and Dragons books are expensive, even pre-used)
No I’m not underage.
Here’s a quick list of easy side hustles for teens in the US:
- Babysitting: Offer your services to families in your neighborhood.
- Dog Walking/Pet Sitting: Many pet owners need help during busy days or vacations.
- Lawn Care/House Chores: Mow lawns, rake leaves, or help with small home tasks.
- Tutoring: Help younger kids with subjects you’re good at.
- Selling Handmade Items: Use Etsy or local markets to sell crafts, jewelry, or art.
- Flipping Items Online: Buy low-cost items at thrift stores/garage sales and resell on eBay or Depop.
- Content Creation: Start a YouTube channel, TikTok, or blog on topics you enjoy.
- Surveys/Apps: Use platforms like Swagbucks or Survey Junkie for small cash.
- Car Washing: Offer washing and detailing services in your neighborhood.
- Photography: Sell photos online or offer affordable portrait sessions.
Adapt depending on your skills and resources!
Most people are going to tell you to do surveys, I’ve tried them but please listen to me. Avoid surveys, they are a waste of time. Try selling things you no longer need around the house at a garage sale with your parents or even on Facebook with somebody.
Since you mentioned D&D maybe you could make money from that by teaching others how to play, hosting special events, or being a DM? Get creative if you can, make a plan too.
If you’re wondering the most I got from surveys was 20 bucks and it took a very long time.
@Terry
Not sure why your experience was so poor, but I’ve thus far earned £600 doing surveys - by all means not quickly, but if you stick to it you can earn like £5 a week which adds up especially if OP just wants snacks and hobby money.

What websites do you use for surveys?

Where do you do these surveys?
@Ben
What websites do you use? I’ve signed up with multiple over the years and have lost hope as I barely got any surveys at all.
Yard work. Everyone needs help in that area. We pay hundreds every year just to have someone rake leaves and spread mulch. Exterior house cleaning. I have a giant house with Hardiboard siding and I’d gladly pay someone to wash it down (not pressure washing… hand washing). Window washing.
Babysitting. My sister excelled at this, pocketing thousands in the 70’s while she was still a teenager. Dog walking or even grooming. Making market runs. Cleaning pools. Learning how to cut hair. Pet sitting. House plant sitting (we pay close to $30 a day for a kid to come by and water our patio plants when we are on an extended holiday).
Have you considered stock photos? If you have any holiday photos of landmarks or good nature pictures, these could generate passive income. The only drawback is, most stock photo sites will only let you take out your money after a set time. I’d say give it a go though, you never know, the images could generate a lot of money.

That’s definitely dead.
OP wanted ideas, I’m giving them ideas, buzz off Mr. Negative.

They hated Jesus for telling the truth.
One, you’re not Jesus. Two, Jesus was never real. Three, you sound dumb, bro, go and get some fresh air.

Ok what are the details?
It depends on where you are located and if you are under 18.
For people under 18, I would recommend Swagbucks, particularly if you already like playing games. You can earn some fairly significant amounts by playing mobile games for developers, as well as by answering surveys. Send me a message if you want a referral code that gives you a sign-up bonus.
In addition, I would check out Prolific and Data Annotation if you are over 18 and in one of their approved countries.
Dog walker, babysitter, lawn care, car wash.
Dog walking, mowing lawns, babysitting, shoveling snow.
Why don’t you get a job? You’re a teenager. Every job is a side hustle. Set your own hours.
